Rio Olympics 2016: the Summer Olympics (Jogos Olímpicos de Verão de 2016) of the XXXI Olympiad will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during August 2016. The 2016 Olympics is the 28th edition of the Summer Games, which was first organized in 1896 in Athens, Greece. South America is hosting Olympic games for the first time in history. The Olympic games are scheduled to be from August 5 to 21, 2016. Despite being Summer Olympics, it will be for the first time to be held during actual wintertime in the host city. Around 10,500 Athletes from 206 Countries will participate in first Olympic Game in South America. During 17 days of full gaming time there will be 306 Medals events out of which 136 women, 161 men and 9 mixed events. 42 Sports will be contested at 32 competition venues spread across 4 different regions of the host city Rio de Janeiro. Barra (15) Deodoro (9) Maracanã (4) Copacabana (4) Most importantly, Gulf returns to the Olympics game after 112 years and Rugby returns to the game after 92 years. To ensure smooth functioning of this grant event the authorities have planned 39 test events during August 2014 to May 2016. There will be 7.5 Million tickets to be sold out of which 3.8 million tickets are under USD 30. To organize the game the organizers need supply of: 25,000 Tennis Balls 8,400 shuttlecocks 315 Horses 11 Million Meals 34,000 Beds 72,000 Tables 100,000 Chairs 60,000 Clothes Hangers To run the event the organizing committee will need: 45,000 Volunteers 85,000 Outsourced Staffs 6,500 Employees
